Town House painting - Stockwell, South London
Date: October 2010
Location: Stockwell, South London
Duration: 8 weeks

This 5 storey town house building was in a serious state of disrepair from lower ground level to the roof top, it had degraded timber windows with nonexistent putty, flaky render allowing water ingress and blistered cornice with intruding vegetation. The lead based parapet was allowing water to enter the top flat, our aim was to resolve all these issues and keep costs to a minimum. A majority of the works were conducted using ladders and the top two floors access was gained via abseiling, once again keeping costs down and ensuring there were no security issues as there would be had scaffold been used.
All timber windows and cills were rubbed down to a prepared state, rotten wood removed and reconstructed using ‘Window Care Repair’ by our carpenters, all degraded putty was replaced painted with dulux to finish.
Blistered render and degraded cornice was removed, prepared and re skimmed using Toupret Professional, all rendered areas were prepared and painted with dulux masonry weathershield to finish. The lead lining within the parapet was removed and repaired to ensure no water ingress could occur and levels were correct.
